Gal Maclean Mitchell (born 1995) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Hazor HaGlilit, Israel. With an active studio and exhibition practice since 2015, her work includes installation, painting, sculpture, casting, video, stills, printmaking, and digital art.
My recent focus has been on creating "living" spaces and images. I love exploring materials, choosing those that best express the ideas within my work. Readily available and affordable materials are important to me, and I'm not afraid to experiment and create my own when needed. Experimentation is key to my process– the knowledge I gain opens up new creative possibilities.
I am currently returning to oil painting with a fresh sense of inspiration, looking to develop ideas that connect my various mediums.
The themes that concern me are the cultural values in society, primitiveness, beliefs,gender and liminality, these are the main themes that accompany my works.
