I collect flags on the roads and streets, a moment before they are completely ruined. The flags are torn, tattered and unravelling and I rescue, sew, bandage and try to heal the wounds. I pick up a flag, the national symbol of a country that is torn within itself–between sacred and secular, between the significant and the trivial, between Right and Left, between conventional and alternative, between partners and within oneself. The pieces provoke deep thought. They are related to consciousness and emotion, with a strong connection to the Israeli experience.

With multilayered, intimate, revealing symbolism, the national symbol reflects the wounded nation, the pain, the despair grief and frustration. The pieces express a curative process, with hope for healing of the wounds and full recovery.
The purpose of my art is to touch the heart and soul, to affect and move, using as many associations as possible in a collective visual language and pleasing aesthetics. The pieces are a faithful expression of my gut feelings; they reveal my sensitivities as an artist as well as those of the observer.
